Driver’s Side Closet: Door and rod were removed and custom drawers were built to fit in the space. The drawers’ depth allows for a hamper behind the drawers. The door was cut and used for drawer faces. A first aid kit fits on the floor below the drawers.
Note to others who want to build drawers: The side walls in our unit are not well aligned or parallel. That made mounting the drawer slides difficult and, ultimately, imperfect. Were we to do it over, we would have built a lightweight frame from 1″x2″ lumber that would just fit inside the space. Then we’d mount the drawers into the frame and slide the frame into the space. It would cost 1½ inches of drawer width but would make a nicer job.
Driver’s Side Under Bed: The shallow space stores “office items”. A fence strip was installed to prevent contents from being pinched by the support strut.
Passenger Side Closet: Rod was removed and a false back wall was installed. Plastic drawers fill the space in front of the wall and wine and/or shoes fill the area behind it.
Passenger Side Under Bed: The well was fitted with strips to keep cans from rolling around and the area easily contains a couple cases of beer.
